Analysis of war and peace in Ukraine and China´s potential role in the process

FES Beijing supported an analysis by the Chinese thinktank Grandview on the war in Ukraine and China´s potential role in the peace process. 

Based on this analysis, Grandview together with FES Beijing organized again a 1,5-track dialogue on the war in Ukraine and China´s potential role in the peace process in April 2026 in Beijing. In addition to Chinese foreign and security experts and representatives from the German, French, British, Polish and Ukrainian embassies as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross, former Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Chalyi as well as former German ambassador to China and Japan Volker Stanzel also took part in the closed-door seminar to discuss principles and modalities for lasting peace in Ukraine. 

FES Beijing furthermore organized bilateral talks in Beijing for ambassador Chalyi and ambassador Stanzel with European embassies and Chinese thinktank partners like CICIR and the relevant institutes at Peking University and Qinghua University.
