China’s new IT Economy –MP Lars Klingbeil discusses the role of politics

German MP Lars Klingbeil had an exchange on the societal perspectives of China’s digital economy.

At the premises of Didi Chuxing – the Chinese pendant of Uber – Mr. Klingbeil discussed the stakes and perspectives of the industry with the company management, including questions related to autonomous driving, social responsibility of ride-share operators, data usage and protection as well as technological and legal prerequisites for the development of digital enterprises.

Inspecting the former venue of the Shougang Capital Steel plant in Beijing, Mr. Klingbeil exchanged views with planning managers and engineers about the concepts for the area that harbored one of China’s biggest steel plants and is now hosting the committee for the Winter Olympics 2022 and shall be transformed into a modern office hub for innovative start-ups.

Mr. Klingbeil also met with Chinese Minister Song Tao and Vice Minister Qian Hongshan to discuss recent international developments.
