FES Beijing and Grandview jointly hold a Seminar on “The Russia-Ukraine War: Peace Opportunities and Prospects”
On the 19th of April, FES Beijing and Grandview jointly held a seminar on “The Russia-Ukraine War: Peace Opportunities and Prospects”. Michael Staack - Professor of Political Science at the Helmut-Schmidt University of the German Bundeswehr and Nadine Godehardt, Researcher at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee at the Grandview - Ouyang Wei, Director of Russian Economic Research Office of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences - Xu Poling, and the former Chinese Military Attaché to Belarus, Armenia and Serbia - Ma Yongbao attended the seminar. The seminar was presided over by the President of Grandview - Ren Libo.
Experts who attended the meeting analyzed and interpreted the Russo-Ukrainian War from the perspective of geopolitics, strategy and tactics, as well as economic repercussions. The experts participating in the seminar believed that the Russia-Ukraine War led to some major shifts in geopolitical dynamics, geoeconomic situation, and resulted in the change of the meaning and format of conventional warfare. The experts reached a consensus that military means is by no means an effective way of resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the international community needs to jointly seek a political solution.
