German-Chinese civilization dialogue

On January 13^th 2023, FES Beijing Office and CAFIU successfully hosted its joint annual civilization dialogue.

Experts from China and Germany – like Prof. Thomas Meyer and Prof. Thomas Heberer - provided important impulses for the intercultural discourse on multiple modernities, derogable and non-derogable human rights and recent developments in the bilateral relationship of Germany and China. Furthermore, they exchanged ideas with Chinese expert on a multi-stage approach to counter negative trends after three years of Covid travel restrictions and against a world order in transition. Experts from China and Germany agreed, that multilateral organization like the UN, civil society, academic institutions as well as cities could play a significant role in enhancing mutual understanding in challenging times.
