Chengdu University of Information Technology and FES Beijing office jointly hosted a conference at Sichuan Normal University Suining Campus on sustainable development and socio-ecological transformation with the title “Beautiful China, Charming Yangtze - Ecology, Tourism, History and Archaeology in the Upper Yangtze River Region”.
FES and its Chinese partners are working together on common goods in the areas of sustainable development and green transition. Academic discussions and experience sharing focusing on the ecology, tourism, history and archaeology of the Yangtze region will, from the perspective of knowledge preservation, provide beneficial support for the protection and inheritance of the Yangtze culture and the promotion of sustainable development in the Yangtze River economic region.
The conference included 7 thematic speeches and discussions divided into 5 sub-forums: “Technological Innovation and Ecological Protection”, “Culture Tourism Integration and Cultural Communication”, “Museums and Parks of Archaeological Sites”, “Local Civilization and Rural Revitalization”, and “Cultural Tourism Practice and Local Cultural History”.
A total of 111 experts from 57 universities from all across China (including Sichuan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University, Beijing Normal University, Minzu University of China, Nanjing University, East China Normal University, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Lanzhou University, Southwest University, Yunnan University, Shanghai University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Southern University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Henan University, Sichuan Normal University, etc.), as well as 15 political and business representatives of Suining (from the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Federation of Social Sciences, China National Democratic Construction Association, China Zhigong Party, etc.), participated in the conference.
Back in the early 1990s, FES partnered with Sichuan Provincial Department of Forestry to plan and implement a model ecological shelter forest along the Yangtze river in Jueshan Township, Suining. Three decades later, FES has returned to Suining to held this conference at the brand new Sichuan Normal University Suining Campus, the city’s very first university. Suining, located between Chengdu and Chongqing, is also at the geographic center of the new Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, which should be a booster in the economic development of Southwest China.
FES started its project cooperation in Sichuan in 1985. Next year, FES will be delighted to celebrate with its Sichuan partners the 40th anniversary. In the future, FES looks forward to continuously working together with its partners and friends in Sichuan on sustainable development and socio-ecological transformation.
