Research based dialogue between German and Chinese thinktanks on China's global security Initiative and Germany's Zeitenwende

On February 21^st 2023, FES Beijing Office and Grandview Institution jointly hosted a webinar with German and Chinese thinktanks to enrich a joint research project on China´s global security and Germany´s Zeitenwende, which has been initiated by end of 2022.

Experts from China and Germany – like Prof. Michael, Staack, Helmut Schmidt University der Bundeswehr; Prof. Götz Neuneck, Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy (IFSH), Nadine Godehardt and Angela Stanzel - both German Institute for International and Security Policy (SWP) exchanged ideas with Prof. Cui Hongjian, China Institute of International Studies (CIIS); Ouyang Wei, Grandview Academic Committee and former Professor of National security lab National Defense University; Director Zhao Chen and Prof. He Zhigao – both Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS).

Experts from both countries agreed that’s is much needed to exchange ideas on the development of constructive Sino-German and Sino-European relations at a time when the international landscape is evolving dynamically and global governance is facing unprecedented challenges.

German and Chinese experts explained and discussed new strategies, positions and strategic processes from their perspective, which enriched the joint research project of Grandview and FES.
