On the two meetings at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) and Grandview Institution Chinese scholars and German experts discussed various aspects of the China-USA-EU trilateral relationship against the current background of the US-China trade war and the political situation in the EU.

Focus of the first discussion at CICIR was the current development of the Sino-US relationship and its implications for the EU. It was emphasized that there is a need for more trust in international relations in general, as well as a strategy for a common future in order to solve a number of global problems facing all of humanity.

Main focus of the talk at Grandview Institution were the challenges of governance in the 21st century related to fast technological developments and changes of social values in society.

During the discussions experts on both sides stressed the importance of cooperation in order to face the challenges of the 21st century.
