Visit to Beijing by FES Chairman Kurt Beck and Handover of Chief Representative Post

By invitation of the Chinese Association of International Understanding (CAFIU), the main partner organization of FES in Beijing, FES Chairman Kurt Beck, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation from the FES Headquarters in Berlin visited Beijing in order to honor the cooperative relationship between FES and its most important partners in Beijing. On June 7^th, the FES office in Beijing held a reception in honor of Mr. Beck’s visit, and to mark the handover of the Beijing chief representative post from Mr. Christoph Pohlmann to Dr. Alexander Kallweit.

Mr. Kurt Beck’s speech at the reception looked back on the history of German-Sino relations and particularly the relations of FES with the CPC, and expressed his best wishes for the future cooperation between the two organizations. The reception also gave Mr. Christoph Pohlmann the opportunity to bid all of the partners of FES Beijing farewell, and Dr. Alexander Kallweit was able to introduce himself and further get to know the people and organizations FES Beijing cooperates with. Other guests at the reception included Mr. Zhu Rui, the secretary general of CAFIU, and his Excellency Mr. Michael Clauß, the German Ambassador to China. Before concluding his brief visit on June 8^th, Mr. Kurt Beck also had a fruitful meeting with Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC (IDCPC) Mr. Wang Yajun.
